What is NAD+?

NAD+, short for Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, is a naturally occurring co-enzyme found in almost all cells of the human body.  Its main purpose is to fuel metabolic processes by converting energy from food into cellular energy. NAD+ is critical to the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and amino acids, and also has dramatic effects on the aging process. As we get older, the amount of NAD+ naturally available in our cells decreases and the aging process accelerates. Restoration of NAD+ levels with IV therapy is being heavily studied and has been showing exciting results!

What is NAD+ Used For?

Anti-Aging Effects

Research is linking the ability of NAD+ to protect cells, promote DNA repair, and theoretically the ability to increase life span. NAD+ is required for the activation of particular enzymes in the brain called sirtuins.  Sirtuins are linked to increasing memory, cognitive performance, and protecting against neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzherimer’s Disease. Research also suggests that sirtuins may contribute to protecting strands of DNA that form the caps of chromosomes called telomeres. Each time a cell divides, telomeres are shortened until they eventually can longer divide. At this point, cells die in a process called apoptosis. By increasing NAD+ levels and sirtuin function, telomeres may be protected from shortening, theoretically increasing longevity and slowing the aging process.

How does NAD+ Therapy work at RevIVed Hydration? 

NAD+ therapy at Biofuse quickly and effectively restores cellular NAD+ levels intravenously. We currently offer two options for NAD+ therapy: an anti-aging drip which includes 250 mg of NAD+, and a cognitive enhancing formulation including a 500 mg dose of NAD+. Infusion times for NAD+ are typically 1-3 hours but vary from person to person. IV NAD+ therapy is considered very safe and is administered by highly trained registered nurses under the supervision of a board-certified physician. Due to the increase in energy and ATP production during the infusion, some discomfort such as mild chest pressure or abdominal cramping is common. These symptoms can be reduced by lengthening infusion time and resolve quickly once the infusion is complete.
